Hyde School announces an exciting new addition to its course catalog this year: Women in Leadership. The year-long course will focus on the roles strong women have played throughout history and the personal and social barriers women face continue to face today.

BATH, Maine (PRWEB) November 10, 2021

Hyde School announced to its student body that it will offer a new class, Women in Leadership, for the remainder of the 2021- 2022 academic year. Hyde School is known for its focus on character and leadership education and is proud to now offer its students a course that highlights the many influential women leaders throughout history.

The course will examine various case studies, readings, timelines, and public surveys on the development of women's rights and how women leaders have had to navigate specific gender stereotypes throughout their lifetime. Additionally, the course will highlight how a lack of women's rights and pervasive stereotypes impacted women of color and women leaders in LGBTQ+ spaces.

The course will be taught by the Dean of Studies Crystal Peltzer, who had this to say about her upcoming
course.

"As a woman, school leader, mother, and someone who has had to face internal and external pressures that come from gendered expectations, this course has already sparked personal revelations that I have been able to share with the students to help them understand things that have progressed (or NOT progressed) in just the last 40ish years. While daunted by the task of developing a course of this scope and ambition, I feel strongly about the need to introduce our female community and male allies to this, and I want to support their conversation in a meaningful way. In this deeply discussion-driven class, we don't shy away from the hard truths or questions we come up with as a group, and the syllabus is flexible to the interests and life experiences the students bring to the table."- Crystal Peltzer
